Bergen Businesses Land On NJ's 'Wall Of Shame,' Owe Nearly $495K
Eight New Jersey businesses have landed on the state's workplace accountability "wall," owing a combined $743,826.95 in unpaid wages, fines and penalties.
The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development added the eight businesses to its Workplace Accountability in Labor List, known as The WALL, in September, the agency announced Tuesday, Sept. 15. Businesses on The WALL are barred from public contracts with state, county and local governments until their liabilities are paid in full.

Bergen County Dad, Finance Executive Ian Birla Dies At 53 After Cancer Battle
Ian Naveen Birla, a father of two and longtime finance executive who stepped away from his career to fight cancer, died Sunday, Sept. 7, according to his obituary from Boulevard Funeral Home and Cremation Service. He was 53 years old.
Birla, of Closter, was born in Indianapolis and raised in Memphis before attending the University of Michigan, where he met his wife, Nita, his obituary reads.
